Polyurea Application in Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center Grand

Qingdao is a coastal city at the southern tip of China's Shandong Peninsula and served as the site of the 2008 Olympic Games sailing events. It is now the National Training Centre for Aquatic Sports and host of an annual 10-day festival, the Qingdao Sea Culture Festival. The city is also home to the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center Grand Theater, a prestigious new venue which opened late summer 2009. Four Robert Juliat Aramis 2500W HMI follow spots have been installed in the Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center Grand Theater, which located inside the international marina, is the main venue for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of all major international events centred on sailing. The Grand Theatre also plays host to a growing number of international performances such as the recent Moulin Rouge - Passionate Europe by The Russian Song and Dance Troupe.

According to responsible person of Qingdao Olympic Sailing Center Grand Theater related, the blue fantasy performance basin had a severe leaking problem with process water leaking through joints, cracks, and bug holes in a common PMMA and concrete wall between sea water and foundation soil. Previously, fiber reinforcement SBS modified waterproofing membrane was used. These materials would chip and peal in a very short period of time, the seams between membranes were the biggest problem resulting water leaking.
After in-person and telephone conversations with our consulting engineer, the owner decided to use polyurea as waterproofing membrane. Our engineer recommended Qtech-112 surface preparation system and Qtech-406 waterproofing material.

The important aspect of selecting Qtech-406 polyurea product was that the installation time was shorter less than half from other waterproofing system.
 
The installation consisted of
▶    Remove the previous fiber reinforcement coating
▶    Grind the working surface prep, keep it clean
▶    Qtech-112 Primer
▶    Crack and joint detailing use Qtech-112 Putty
▶    1.5mm Blue color Qtech-406 polyurea spraying
▶    Total Installation Time: 1.5 hours
▶    After 20 minutes Return to use
